Youcapper Picks: CFL Week 5

Toronto Argonauts @ Winnipeg Blue Bombers

Opening: Blue Bombers -15.5, 51.5

Current (7/11 8:00pm pst): Blue Bombers -15, 51.5

Youcapper Picks: Argonauts +15

The Toronto Argonauts are now 0-3 to start the season after a crushing one-point loss to the BC Lions last week. This week, they head to out to face the number one team in the West, the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

The Argonauts should come into this game with a little bit of fire and momentum with Bethel-Thompson at QB. He was very efficient in his first start of the season, but untimely fumbles and lack of the run game stalled the  Argos offense.

The Blue Bombers, arguable the best team in the CFL , may come into this game a little overconfident and come out sloppy. Look for Bethel-Thompson to continue his efficient passing and, hopefully, the Argos can get Rainey involved in the run game.

It’s games like this, when an 0-3 team faces a 3-0 team, that underdogs bring out their bag of tricks. I’m banking on the Argos to keep this close for most of this game and possibly have a chance to win it in their final drive.

Calgary Stampeders @ Hamilton Tiger-Cats

Opening: Tiger-Cats -5, 52.5

Current(7/11 8:00pm pst) : Tiger-Cats -4.5, 52.5

Youcapper Picks: Tiger-Cats -4.5

The Calgary Stampeders come in to this game with a two game win streak while the Hamilton Tiger-Cats come off their first defeat of the season.

The Ticats have to deal with the loss of their star running back, Sean Thomas-Erlington. He will likely be replaced with a combination of Maleek Irons and Anthony Coombs. I believe the duo will be able to do a great job while Thomas-Erlington is out.

I think the line is off a bit in favor of the Stampeders due to last weeks 27 point victory over the Roughriders. Though their 2-1 record may seem decent, their two wins come against two teams with a combined 2-6 record on the season.

I predict the Ticats will not miss a beat in the running game and cover the spread.
