It’s week 22 in Major League Soccer. Find out what the accountant is betting this weekend.
Pick #1: New England Team Total Over 1.5 Goals (-110)
In the game of the week, New England is putting their 11-match win streak on the line as they play host to LAFC — the league’s top team. These two teams have only met once when the Revolution went to Los Angeles in 2018, which resulted in a draw. Each team has scored their share of goals recently. New England has scored at least two goals in their last 10 games a total of seven times. As a New England fan, I want to bet with 11-game win streak but LAFC has been too good recently and it’s better to not bet than to lose a bet, but I think that New England scores at least 2 against LAFC.
Pick #2 LAFC Team Total Over 2 (+145)
Without completely recapping the above pick, LAFC has scored an average of three goals per game. At plus money for a team which has averaged over 2.5 goals in the past 10 games seems like a great value.
Pick #3 Atlanta/San Jose ML Parlay (+111)
Atlanta has been great at home this year going 8-3-1. Atlanta is coming off of a heartbreaking loss against LAFC last week where they could have won the game. LA Galaxy is also coming into Atlanta with a recent shutout loss to the Portland Timbers. The Galaxy have gone 4-1-5 this year on the road and will be without their main player in Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Zlatan will be suspended this game due to yellow card accumulation — add to that LA will be coming into another sellout crowd in Atlanta — I don’t see them being able to pull out a win in Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
San Jose has been on a hot streak recently and they will be matched up against the lowly Columbus Crew SC. Columbus have pulled out two wins in their last 10 games against New York and Montreal. San Jose have won eight of their last nine home matches and have scored over two goals in seven of their last 10 games. In the same time frame, Columbus have score over two goals once in their last 10 and score exactly two in four of their last 10 games. Thought the last few games have shown some life in Columbus’s squad, but they are no match for San Jose at home. I also lean towards the over 3 goals (-120).
