The 2021 World Hockey Championships started up this past weekend in Riga, Latvia with many games on tab and some standout players that should be described as “Must Watch”. We take a look at some nations competing in the tournament that are bringing great players over for a chance to win Gold.

Owen Power (Team Canada 🇨🇦 )

Projected number one pick in the upcoming NHL draft has the chance to really stand out on Canada’s blueline if he eats up big minutes and plays an excellent two way game.

Ivan Provorov (Team Russia 🇷🇺 )

After a rotten season with his NHL club the Philadelphia Flyers, Provorov looks to be a dominant force for his nation and hopes to become the defenseman of the tournament.

Anton Lundell (Team Finland 🇫🇮 )

After a pretty great 2021 year/season, Anton Lundell comes into the tournament in form and ready to compete as Finland’s deadly weapon upfront.

Rickard Rakell (Team Sweden 🇸🇪 )

Sweden’s best forward, Rickard Rakell looks to dominate and rack in the points on offence for a team with not many NHLers and bring gold for the blue and gold.

Jakub Vrana (Team Czech Republic 🇨🇿 )

After a great end of the season with the Red Wings, Vrana hopes to cinute his must watch play with his nation and lead them to the finals.

Matt Beniers (Team USA 🇺🇸 )

A projected top 5 pick in the upcoming NHL Draft, Mat Beiners is trying to get scouts attention while playing with the USA once again in 2021.

Moritz Seider (Team Germany 🇩🇪 )

The young D-man on a thin German squad is looking for a big impact tournament to try and make the Red Wings out of camp next NHL season.

Nico Hischier (Team Switzerland 🇨🇭 )

After an injury riddled season with the Devils, Hischier is trying to get back to form with his home country, but will he? We shall find out.

Yegor Sharangovich (Team Belarus 🇧🇾 )

Another Devils player in the tourney is going to be front in centre for Team Belarus after having a great rookie season that can sneak in to eye-catching TV.

What did you think, are these players must watch at the 2021 IIHF World Championship?
