Last weekend didn’t go as well as I had hoped with me going 2-1 +.9U. The Dynamo were able to get it done against SKC and Toronto laid the biggest egg against one of the worst teams in MLS. I’ve learned that when betting MLS if you can pull out a profit on the day, you’re doing ok. Just like last weekend, I have a few plays that I like. If I have any others make sure you follow me on Twitter for any additional plays I may take. As of right now, there is only one game on the weekend slate that I like.

Chicago Fire (+175) VS Columbus Crew (+140) O/U 2.75

If you have followed me at any length during the MLS season you will know I have an insane hatred for the Chicago Fire. It’s weird I know but I live with it.

This match is a battle of the top dog in the East against the little chihuahua down the road. Chicago has had a really bad run of form in their last 10 games played; going 2-6-2. During this run, they have averaged 0.90 goals scored. Their biggest victory was against FC Cincinnati where they won 3-0. This of course was coming off a three-match string of games where they couldn’t muster a single goal. One of those matches was against the Crew, where they lost 3-0. Some may say that it’s a let down spot for the Crew but the Fire are dealing with some injuries coming into this game. Kenneth Kronholm is out for the year and Luka Stojanovic, Kappelhof, Gutjahr and CJ Sapong will all be out of this match. A bad run of form and some pretty serious blows to their lineup doesn’t spell a good chance for victory.

The Crew are one of the best in MLS right now. Since returning from the break, they’ve been on a tear going 6-1-2 with a goal differential of +13 during these nine matches. They’ve also not given up a goal since their match against NYCFC, where they lost 1-0. It’s really hard to not like the Crew in this spot as they aren’t too banged up and have the momentum on their side.

This year I haven’t had the best time picking sides but the juice on Columbus PK is at -125. I’m going to lay my money on the Crew to escape defeat in this one. I also like the over 2.75 at EVEN money. Chicago has a -6 regular season goal differential since coming back from the COVID-19 break. Give me an on fire offense against a horrible team. I can see Columbus putting up three goals on their own. I like the Crew to get this done so much that I’m laying 2U for each play. I don’t recommend wagering more than you’re comfortable with so take my 2U play with a grain of salt.

Best of luck if you tail me and let’s beat the books this weekend.
