Players to Add This Week

Cesar Valdez (BAL)

Similar to last year, the Baltimore Orioles have surprised early on in the year. Valdez has been the de facto closer for the Orioles with six saves already this year to go along with getting credit for two wins.

Fantasy Advice: Valdez has pitched 12.2 innings and has struck out 13 batters. While a few bad outings could knock him out of that closer spot, ride Valdez right now if your in need of a reliever. Valdez is owned in 69% of Yahoo fantasy leagues.

Randal Grichuk (TOR)

With George Springer not completely healthy and in the DH spot, Randal Grichuk will continue to be the Jays starting center fielder. Grichuk has had a very solid start thus far batting .289 and possesses home run power.

Fantasy Advice: The good news regarding Grichuk’s start is that Springer is not close to being healthy and with Vladdy Jr. and Bichette hitting the way they are, his numbers could be sustainable. Grichuk is owned in 61% of Yahoo Fantasy Leagues.

J.A. Happ (MIN)

Happ was a low-key signing for the Twins this season and has been much better than he was with the Yankees. Happ has only allowed 5 ER in 22 innings, while not getting a huge number of strikeouts, Happ is getting outs which also matters in fantasy.

Fantasy Advice: Happ has some great matchups in the near future and could continue his hot start to the season. Happ is only owned in 28% of Yahoo Fantasy Leagues.

Player to Drop This Week

Keston Hiura (MIL)

With dual first and second base eligibility, there are much better players on waivers in those positions than Hiura right now. Hiura has been regularly scratched from the Brewers lineup as of late and is really struggling at the plate.

Fantasy Advice: Kolton Wong would be a better replacement at 2B for owners who are struggling in that position. While Hiura could figure it out, there is no guarantee that he could get back to the form he had last season.
