Players to Add This Week

Joey Votto (CIN)

While clearly not the player he used to be, Votto is still showing signs of life at the plate at 37-years-old. Votto always had the ability to walk and make contact but that disappeared for a number of years. For the time being, it seems to have returned.

Fantasy Advice: It will be interesting to see if this is a blip for the aging first baseman or a sign that he is recapturing some of his form from his last great year in 2017. Votto is owned in 37% of Yahoo fantasy leagues.

Kiké Hernandez (BOS)

The verdict on whether the Red Sox are this good is yet to be determined, but one thing cannot be overlooked, they can mash. Hernandez was always a solid utility man for the Dodgers and seems to have translated that success over to Boston.

Fantasy Advice: The multiple position eligibility is what makes Hernandez a valuable pickup in light of injuries or inconsistencies on your team. Hernandez is only owned in 30% of Yahoo Fantasy Leagues.

Taijuan Walker (NYM)

A sneaky pick-up by the Mets near the end of Spring Training, Walker has been as advertised so far with the Mets. Having a solid 2020, it was surprising that Walker waited that long in free agency but joining a very strong Mets rotation will help his fantasy value.

Fantasy Advice: With deGrom and Stroman the first two in the rotation, Walker is able to provide high upside strikeout value, at least while ‘Thor’ is still on the IL. Walker is only owned in 43% of Yahoo Fantasy Leagues.

Player to Drop This Week

Brian Anderson (MIA)

The Marlins surprised everyone last year and Anderson was a big part of that. However, this year he has been off to a really slow start. Anderson is currently batting .181 with only 4 RBIs.

Fantasy Advice: Last year Anderson was a solid addition on the waiver wire and the same seems to be true this season. If you are looking to get rid of Anderson, now is the time with others on the waiver wire outperforming him.
