The NHL Trade deadline is fast approaching and there are many players that can be on the way out of there teams, which includes Mikael Granlund of the Nashville Predators. A team could definitely use his services for a deep playoff run and use him in a top six position or a key depth position to ultimately hoist the cup in the end.

5. Boston Bruins

The Bruins are said to be active at the deadline to take pressure off the Bergeron, Marchand and Pastrnak line, and what better player to get than Mikael Granlund. Granlund can be a good tool for the Bruins as he has the ability to play all positions if need be and usually fits great in different line combinations with a blend of players. Granlund to the Bruins is at five here just because the other teams need him more and will offer more to get his services on their squad.

4. New York Islanders

The Islanders are believed to have great interest in Mikael Granlund for weeks now and since the Andres Lee injury, it’s becoming more likely. In my personal opinion, I don’t think it’s likely for a player like him to get dealt there just because the Islanders need a bigger impact player. They also could make two splashes for Granlund and another guy, which would give the Islanders a great lineup for another run.

3. Carolina Hurricanes

The Hurricanes have always tried to get a player like Mikael Granlund in their lineup that ultimately hasn’t worked out. Now that Granlund is available via trade, the Hurricanes should be all over that. Granlund is a chameleon and swiss army knife in the sense that he can play with anyone/anywhere and on the Canes, he’s going to be playing with very skilled players to help him out tremendously. Granlund will be good in a top six role or third line role on the Canes with the players they have on the roster and will make the Canes a force to reckon with.

2. Pittsburgh Penguins

With very key players out on the IR at the moment for the Penguins, it’s clear they should go out and get a forward like Granlund for the team. New GM Ron Hextall and president Brian Burke will be active at the deadline and with a guy like Granlund and the skillset he brings, the Pens should stretch their wings and get him. He’ll be great for them and with Money on the IR maybe until the playoffs, Granlund will be a huge add for them to have some success in the playoffs. Having Granlund on the wing with Crosby or him centering his own line, is a major add and win for the Penguins if they can make the deal come a reality.

1. Toronto Maple Leafs

The Leafs have had their eyes set on Granlund going back to last offseason for his services in the top six or third line role to bolster their forward group, and they once again have a big chance to do that at the Trade Deadline. Granlund wouldn’t be the perfect fit, but he would be an awesome player to get on the wing or centre position for the Leafs. Whether he’s on Tavares’ wing, or between Simmonds, Mikheyev, Spezza or Galchenyuk on the third line, he is a great addition for a hopeful playoff run on this team in the stage they are in.
